​General Dentist

 

Position Summary

The General Dentist supports our Dental Center's evidence-based treatment philosophy, mission, vision, and core values by performing the full scope of general dentistry permitted by the state.

 

Essential Position Functions
  • Embody our Dental Center's treatment philosophy, mission, and values and ensure they are portrayed throughout the practice.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, at the highest available scope of licensure per the applicable state’s Dental Practice Act, including expanded function Dental Assistants where applicable and Hygienists with all state specified permits and endorsements (nitrous oxide, local anesthetic, and restorative).
  • Assist with coordinating multiple schedules during the course of the workday ensuring patients have appropriate access to care, that the patient’s experience is exceptional, and that tomorrow’s work is done today.
  • Ensure quality care and adherence to the company treatment philosophy: data from the dashboard, specialty referrals, EV Report – reviewing it, counseling as needed.
  • Adheres to the criteria of the office strategic goals, the economic value report of their offices and themselves: patient count, routine work, Press Ganey, access and quality care.
  • Embrace Press Ganey and patient transparency with the patient experience being foremost.
  • Obtain and maintain Nitrous Oxide credentials and/or other forms of minimal conscious sedation.
  • Diagnose and treat dental issues related to disease, malformations, and injuries and develop individualized treatment plans for such.
  • At all new patients and continuing, care appointments present and educate the proactive dental care plan. Address and resolve patient concerns and second opinions.
  • Strict adherence to OSHA and blood-borne pathogens policies.
  • Follow the FDA and ALARA principle guidelines when taking intra-oral and panoramic radiographs.
  • Strict adherence to the clinic's Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy. This includes, but is not limited to the use of N95 respirators and other PPE as required by regulatory bodies and company policy. 

Non-Essential Position Functions
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Provide mentoring and feedback to clinical and non-clinical staff as needed.

 

Education and Experience

Degree as a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), and/or Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). Successful completion of a traditional pre doctoral dentistry program and valid licensure in the specific state(s) where practicing.

 

Licenses, Certificate, and Registrations
  • Degree as a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS).

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:
  • Evidence-based dental practices.
  • AxiUm electronic records
  • Fulfill all requirements to ensure proper electronic documentation for all care provided to patients.
  • CAMBRA and PEMBRA, with an emphasis on prevention.
  • Risk phases, and risk assessment.
  • Diagnostic terms.
  • Information and techniques are needed to diagnose and treat oral cavity anomalies.
  • Principles and processes for providing customer and optimal patient experience. This includes patient needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of patient satisfaction.




Skill In:
  • Performing anterior and premolar root canals
  • Extracting erupted teeth; either routinely or surgically.
  • Verbal and written communications.




Ability to:
  • Utilize evidence-based dentistry to recognize, prevent, intercept and correctly identify appropriate treatment.
  • Operate a computer and a variety of software applications quickly and accurately.
  • Physically and visually perform surgical tasks and all dental procedures.
  • Communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so others will understand.
