Chief Behavioral Health Officer

Department: Behavioral Health Services

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Supervises: All Behavioral Health Services Staff




Overview

The Chief Behavioral Health Officer is responsible for providing psychiatric care to FCHC patients, supervising Behavioral Health Services and Care Teams (including Medication Assisted Treatment support), and managing behavioral health-related grants and community partnerships.

Clinical Leadership
  • Provides psychiatric care to patients age 16 and above
  • Conducts psychiatric evaluations and medication management
  • Offers behavioral health consultations and emergency services
  • Facilitates patient hospitalizations when needed
  • Manages disability assessments and community resource referrals




Program Management
  • Develops and implements behavioral health strategies aligned with organizational objectives
  • Ensures department productivity goals are met
  • Oversees safety, quality, patient experience, and regulatory compliance
  • Directs daily activities and personnel for Behavioral Health Services
  • Maintains and expands behavioral health service offerings




Team Supervision
  • Leads regular team meetings for care coordination
  • Provides individual supervision and performance evaluation
  • Monitors continuing education and staff development
  • Optimizes clinic coverage and scheduling
  • Serves as clinical consultant to behavioral health team




Administrative Leadership
  • Participates in organizational planning and policy development
  • Coordinates with other departments (Pharmacy, Operations, Medical)
  • Manages behavioral health program credentialing
  • Implements quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintains community partnerships and grant relationships




Qualifications
  • Licensed physician in Missouri with current DEA/BNDD numbers
  • Board certified in Psychiatry
  • Completed accredited psychiatry residency program
  • Medicare/Medicaid provider enrollment
  • Minimum 5 years psychiatric experience
  • Urban healthcare experience preferred
  • Active professional memberships preferred




Working Relationships
  • Internal: Executive leadership, department directors, and all staff
  • External: Patients, community agencies, healthcare partners, educational institutions, and regulatory bodies




Continuing Education
  • Maintains active professional development
  • Meets Missouri State Board of Registration continuing education requirements

She has also effectively recruited for Providence and Kaiser in the Portland Area for Acute Care & Skilled Nursing Communities RN’s and RN’s throughout Oregon before making the transition to UHC.
