Job Summary:
The Staff Dentist is
responsible for providing direct dental care to our patients in a professional
and patient-focused manner using established dental protocol, procedures, and techniques.
Additionally, he/she provides dental
education and works in a team environment in an effective and efficient manner
to ensure optimum patient centered care.
Job Responsibilities:

Provide direct
dental care to patients using established dental procedures and techniques as
outlined by the ADA.
·
Assess dental
condition and needs of patients. Use
patient screening procedures to include medical history review, x-rays and
dental and perio charting.

Professional and
courteously manage patients during dental procedures.
o
Inform patients
of and explain dental procedures being performed.
·
Conduct dental
charting and ensure patient information is entered timely and correctly into
the patient’s electronic record in Dentrix.
·
Develop and
implement individualized dental care plans.
·
Provide dental
education to patients in a clear and easily understood manner to ensure
patients understand the recommended treatment plan and include the patient in
the discussion.
·
Institute
emergency measures for sudden or adverse developments during treatment of
patients.
·
Assist in
managing the dental office infection control plan to meet OSHA, CDC, and ADA
standards.
·
Be cooperative,
helpful, a positive role model and work within compliance of a collaborative
agreement with any Advanced Dental Therapist, Dental Therapist, Outreach
Staff.

Be cooperative,
helpful, and a positive role model with Dental student rotations.
·
Maintain a level
of productivity that ensures achievement of fiscal goals as set by the
organization.
·
Maintain
necessary licensure and CPR certification as required by Minnesota state law
and Health Center policy.
·
Communicate with
your Manager/Director regarding any changes, concerns or issues that may arise.
·
Develop and
maintain relationships with other staff to ensure efficient daily
operations of all departments.
·
Be knowledgeable
of the Health Center's services to provide integrated care to assist patients/families in
accessing needed resources.
·
Know, understand,
and ensure adherence to the organization’s policy related to the patients’
right for confidential care and HIPAA.

Keep updated on the FQHC's current events, changes in the workplace, policies, and procedures.
·
Read email,
Intranet, and other communication tools on a regular schedule and respond in a
timely manner to requests, where applicable.

Perform other
tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Qualifications:
·
Board certified,
MN licensed dentist with current DEA license.
·
Abide by ethical
standards of licensing board.
·
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
·
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
·
Strong interpersonal skills with an understanding of underserved
populations.
·
Ability to solve problems effectively, creatively and decisiveness in decision making.

the department.

·
Bilingual skills are a plus.
Other Requirements:
As a full-time, exempt
employee, work outside of the typical workday will be necessary on occasion to
facilitate the organization’s business. Travel is
required to meetings, events and to support other clinic locations within the
community and across the region. Means of travel and travel expenses will be
reimbursed according to our travel policy.
Physical ability to sit for extended periods of time. Position requires repetitive use of fingers,
hands, wrist in job related duties, i.e. tools, computer, etc. Complete range
of motion, including fine motor skills and tactile sense of both hands. Able to lift 25 pounds. In addition, this
position requires the use of additional PPE and a respirator “fit test”,
including, but not limited to, face shield, face mask, gown, gloves, goggles,
