Job Summary:
Responsible
for providing clinical dental services and preventative dental care. Diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries, and
malformations of teeth and gums, and related oral structures. Examines patient to determine nature of
condition, utilizing x-rays, dental instruments and other diagnostic
procedures. Cleans, fills, extracts, and
replaces teeth, using rotary and hand instruments, dental appliances,
medications, and surgical implements.Â
Provides preventative dental services to the patients, such as
applications of fluoride and sealants to teeth, education in oral and dental
hygiene.

from an accredited dental school

Requires
a comprehensive knowledge of primary dental care in outpatient setting    Â

Knowledge
of the principles and practice of modern dentistry as related to community
health programs as well as current social and economic problems pertaining to
public health and their impact on primary health careÂ

Working
knowledge of the principles and practices of preventative and corrective
dentistry and oral hygiene, and skill in their application

Skills
in all areas of general dentistry, including, but not limited to, diagnosis and
treatment planning, restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics and
oral surgery, and pedodontics

Ability
to establish and maintain harmonious working relationship with other employees,

Licensure and
Credentials:

Unrestricted
license to practice dentistry in the State of Wisconsin and Minnesota

1.0Â Â Â Â Functions and Responsibilities:
1.0Â Performs clinical functions
1.1Â Examines clients requesting care, diagnoses
their dental/oral conditions, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in
carrying out, appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for
specialty consultations or treatment in conformance with approved clinical
protocols and guidelines
1.2Â Examines teeth and gums for all infections and
disease; prepares charts of mouths and teeth, x-rays and diagnoses diseases and
lesions; prepares cavities and fills them with appropriate materials; extracts
teeth and roots; treats infections and diseases of the mouth and teeth;
administers local and general anesthesia; and prepares, fits, adjusts and
finishes dentures, crowns and bridgework
1.3Â Renders corrective and preventative dental
treatment
1.4Â Educates individuals in the nature of oral
health related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health related
disease prevention
1.5Â Give instruction in oral hygiene and
prophylaxis

clinical records
2.1Â Records patient-dentist transactions as they
occur in the client’s dental record so that the dental record accurately and
completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the client and
the care or treatment providedÂ
2.2Â Completes referrals, data collection
instruments and other records or paper works as required by the organization

3.0Â Â Â Â Other duties
3.1Â Responsible for compliance with all applicable
federal, state, local and organization rules, regulations, protocols and
procedures governing the practice of dentistry and the clinical provision of
dental care as well as those relating to, but not limited to, personnel issues,
work place safety, public health and confidentiality
3.2Â Maintains compliance with department
directives and protocols relative to infection control, exposure control and
safety
3.3Â Assists in the coordination and integration of
the organizations dental programs and services with other corporate programs
and services for the welfare of the organizations’ clients
3.4Â Serves on committees as assigned
3.5Â Assists in the provision of continuing
education, on-the-job training, and the orientation of staff as requested
3.6Â As requested designs, develops and implements
appropriate department protocols that comply with the most current accepted
professional standards
3.7Â Travels when necessary to fulfill the
organizations needs and attends meetings as necessary to represent the organization
or dental department
