Our dental clinic is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)
in Greater Minneapolis, Minnesota, Metropolitan, where
patients receive community-based Dentistry as well as Family Practice medical
care, mental health, social work, and other integrated services. When joining our

Our Community Health Center is seeking a General Dentist to
provide superior quality patient care in compliance with established clinical
protocols. Our Dental Providers work cooperatively and effectively with the Dental
Director and other Administration Officers to utilize a balanced and
collaborative approach to include the perspective of all disciplines involved
in the clinic’s services, ensuring the achievement of annual business and
strategic goals and objectives.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Must possess a DMD or DDS
degree from an accredited program in the United States or the equivalent
- Preferred completion of a
residency program in General Practice Dentistry (GPR) or Advanced Education in
General Dentistry (AEGD)
- Preferred minimum of three (3)
years of clinical experience
- Preferred prior experience
working in Federally Qualified Health Centers, non-profit or other community clinics
- Ability to work in the United States: US Citizen, Permanent Resident or with the support of an appropriate visa
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
- Must be licensed or be able to obtain a license to practice Dentistry in Minnesota
- Must possess or be able to obtain current
BLS certification prior to the start date
- Must possess or be able to obtain current
DEA certification prior to the start date
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Possess knowledge of the
principles and practice of dental medicine in the care and treatment of
patients
- Be skilled in dental surgery
and other treatment techniques
- Have a working knowledge of the
administrative practices and procedures, rules, regulations, and policies that
govern the rendering of responsible dental care
- Possess a working knowledge of
public health and preventative care guidelines in oral health care
- Possess the ability to relate
with warmth and compassion to patients and co-workers
- Ability to analyze processes to
identify areas in need of improvement
- Ability to effectively
implement process changes
- Possess excellent verbal
communication and listening skills
- Possess the ability to
prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently
- Possess the ability to be
flexible as to the changing needs of the clinic
- Possess the to learn and
utilize the documentation and database systems at the practice
- Perform the job in accordance
with our Health Center’s Standards of Business Conduct, which includes
compliance, ethics, integrity, confidentiality, protection of assets, and
avoidance of conflicts of interest and inappropriate business relationships
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Patient Care Duties:
-
Provide dental
services in an outpatient setting in an organized and efficient manner
- Provide comprehensive oral
health care for acute and chronic problems through treatment with preventive
and restorative techniques or through referrals to outside sources for services
beyond the scope of the practice
- Evaluate patient problems thoroughly
and appropriately
- Prescribe or plan appropriate
and effective treatment
- Provide clear documentation of
patient visit notes, orders, telephone calls, clinical flow sheets, and other
records as required by quality standards
- Demonstrate excellent
communication skills. Effectively communicate with patients, families, and other
staff members
- Consult with physicians and
other dentists appropriately; knows when to seek advice
- Demonstrate teamwork by working
effectively with all team members, attending and participating actively in
group meetings, and conferring with executive leadership and/or Director of
Operations Support, Director of Primary Care Services, and clinic managers about
any issues that arise
- Work closely with the Medical
Director, Director of Primary Care Services, Director of Operations Support, and
finance department to ensure that all resources, equipment, and supplies are
utilized efficiently and are cost-effective
- Respond to organizational needs
for leave coverage, office emergencies, chart completion, forms completion,
peer review, lab review, and other needs in a cooperative fashion
- Consistently demonstrate a
professional demeanor and appearance. Serve as a good role model for staff
- Stay up to date in his or her
professional field and follows principles of evidence-based medicine
- Follow clinical guidelines
adopted by the clinic
- Serve as a preceptor or other
resource for dental hygienists and dental assistants. May also precept clinical
students on a voluntary basis
- Establish rapport with public
and private clinical care referral resources
- Participate in QI meetings,
peer review sessions, and special projects or activities that promote
improvement in organizational performance and/or advance the mission, goals, and
objectives of the health center
- Perform other related duties
which may be assigned by the Chief Medical Officer, and/or Chief Executive
Officer
- Maintain excellent
communication and effective working relationships with patients, providers,
clinical and administrative team members within UFM and insurance companies,
the public, and the medical community outside of the Health Center for the continuity of high-quality
patient care
