Job Description
​JOB DESCRIPTION: OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY
TITLE: Obstetrics and Gynecology
REPORTS TO: Director of Women’s Health
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible to provide medical care related to pregnancy or childbirth and those who diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases of women, particularly those affecting the reproductive system. May also provide general medical care to women.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs history and physical assessments as indicated by his/her specialty area.
- Provide care for women during prenatal, pregnancy, and childbirth periods.
- Perform Caesarean Sections or other surgical procedures as needed to preserve patients’ health and deliver the baby safely.
- Explain procedures or test results to patients that also include education and follow-up visits.
- Makes referrals, as indicated by the needs of the patient.
- Maintains current and complete documentation in the medical record that reflects the care and services provided to the patient.
- Participates as a member of the medical staff and adheres to the medical staff bylaws.
- Participates in the on-call and emergency coverage schedule, as directed by the OB/GYN Director.
- The OB/GYN must be compliant and cooperate fully with the Health Center’s compliance program, including its standards of conduct and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the OB/GYN’s regular performance evaluation. Failure to comply with the Health Center’s written standards, which include the failure to report any conduct or event that potentially violates legal or compliance requirements, will be met by the enforcement of disciplinary action, up to and including possible termination in accordance with the Health Center’s compliance program.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Current license as a physician in New York State.
- Meets all requirements for appointment/reappointment as a member of the medical staff.
- Good communication skills
- Basic computer knowledge
