Job Description


We are seeking a Physician (Family Practice) to join our community heath center.  The Physician provides clinical leadership and over-site to the professional support staff.  As a Physician, provides health care services to patients.  We are a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 16 sites in Tucson and Pima County.  We are building a world-class primary health care system that is committed to caring for special populations, and focused on improving health outcomes for our patients. 



The ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:


  • Board Certification/Recertification (preferably) or Board Eligible in Specialty, Internal Medicine, Family Practice; required.
  • Completion and maintenance of annual CME requirements for licensure (CME should be relevant to provider scope of medicine); required.
  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school; required.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the state; required.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Medical Practice; preferred.
  • Experience in a group medicine practice setting; preferred.

  • Demonstrates abilities to work with others effectively, to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions to deal tactfully and effectively with the public.
  • Possesses a reasonable level of knowledge of community and public health systems and issues.
  • Proficient in diagnostic procedures and treatment of illness and injuries in the CHC model setting.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of pharmacology, nutrition and mental health.
  • Able to become or already credentialed with all health care plans accepted by the Health Center.

  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.






Mathematical Skills


  • Ability to apply mathematical and statistical concepts.






Reasoning Ability


  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs) in its most difficult phases.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.






Team Work


  • Ability to work and interact effectively and positively with other staff members to build and enhance teamwork among provider staff and in the overall Health Center organization.






Sensitivity to the Needs of Special Populations


  • Ability to understand and respond appropriately, effectively and sensitively to special population groups served by the Health Center.  Special population groups include those defined by race, ethnicity, language, age gender, disability and sexual orientation.






Business Skills


  • Ability to understand and utilize basic accounting reports, such as budgets, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements.
  • Basic knowledge of employee law, OSHA standards, corporate compliance, HIPAA, JCAHO and other applicable laws and regulations.
